Lift Etiquette

Some people should be trained in basic politeness in tight spaces like lifts or on public transport. So if you might be one of those people, here is a helpful guide for you:

If you are already in conversation when entering a lift, continue, but do so in a quieter voice. Don't assume that everyone else in the lift has any shred of interest in your computer network issues and plans for an e-Vlan set-up. Yawn.

If it's a personal conversation, wait until you're on your floor - nobody wants to know! The same goes for inappropriate jokes.

Even if you manage to keep mobile phone reception, wait a minute before making a call - if it's not an emergency, it's not necessary.

Personal hygeine, I shouldn't even have to mention this, but a shower and swig of mouthwash before work never killed anybody - nobody wants to stand in a lift with a stinker.

And one for impolite boys - "Ladies first" is still a nice gesture, try it out once in a while!

Hendrix 40th Anniversary Exhibition

I have never been what you might call a die-hard fan of Jimi Hendrix’s work but I have always been fascinated by the cult following that seems to surround him. This year is the 40th Anniversary of his death and to coincide with this a new exhibition had been opened to the public at the Handel House Museum in Mayfair.
The collection has everything from old programmes (who would have though someone as cool as Hendrix would have once shared the bill with Engelbert Humperdinck), self-portraits and a few guitars. Even for someone like myself that, doesn’t know a great deal about Hendrix other than his famous Woodstock performance, there is a wealth of information here that is very interesting. Even my kids were impressed by the collection, showing Hendrix’s longevity to fascinate and inspire I think.
Definitely worth checking out while it lasts, for an extra few quid, you can also get tickets to view Hendirx’s old flat. I took a miss on this one but maybe something for the true fans among you....
